With well in excess of 60 km of coastline and a planned 1,300 km once all coastal developments are completed, and the very favourable all year round weather conditions it is no wonder that sailing is proving a popular hobby with the expatriate community in Dubai.

Many of the clubs are Royal Yachting Association affiliated and there training courses from beginners through to advanced in various categories of boat are recognised at international level.

Several Marinas are well established offering top class facilities and play host to the many seafaring vessels. The new  Dubai Marina Yacht Club boasts being the largest yacht club in the world.

UAE Marine Sports Federation was founded in Dubai in 1997 to encourage, promote and administer water sports in the region and represent the UAE internationally.This is based at Dubai International Marine Centre (DIMC) at Le Meridien Mina Seyahi.

Dubai’s rich maritime tradition is upheld with a full yachting and social calendar each year. The Annual International Boat Show is held in March each year.

The Maktoum Sailing Trophy has been an annual event since 2004, however is being replaced this year by The Mina Seyahi Sailing Cup.
