Horses

The Emiratis have a real love of horses, and as a result there are a number of Equestrian centres in Dubai. Joining is reasonably easy, with lessons readily available. For owners most stables offer livery at around Dhs 2,000 per month.

For those more interested in being a spectator, the horse racing season meetings are on a Thursday night at Nad al Sheba. www.dubairacingclub.com
On their website under membership, it is possible to join Silks, which give you a season ticket pass,  and includes tickets for the Dubai Racing World Cup which is held the end of March each year.

The Emirates Racing authority is the internationally recognized governing body for horse racing in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). It administers all aspects of the sport, including the implementation of the UAE Rules of Racing. www.emiratesracing.com

The highlight of the racing calendar is the Dubai World Cup. In 2009 it will be held on March 29th and is one of the biggest, on the Dubai social calendar with over 70,000 people attending in 2008. www.dubaiworldcup.com
