Children’s health care is excellent, offering highly qualified Paediatricians. Many clinics offer 24 hour call out and home visits, this is a relatively new phenomena to Dubai. The same is true of dentistry, many surgeries offer specialist paediatric dentists – these operate from bright, funky, kid friendly surgeries more like walking into a set from the ‘Wizard of Oz’.
Pack any regular medications your child may be taking in your hand luggage. Ensure you have enough supply until you have settled and found a pharmacy in your area. Check before moving to Dubai that the prescribed medication is available in the UAE. Keep the prescription at hand you may be asked for it at the airport.
Kids are encouraged to get involved in sport from an early age.
- Swimming – water awareness and safety is vital to children moving to Dubai. Invest in swimming lessons from a very young age and fence off that pool!
- Kids are accepted into football sessions from 4 years of age, it is important for them to feel part of a team and also to encourage a healthy life style.
- Rugby also is very popular amongst boys and girls, and high coach/ kid ratio ensures safe practice.
- Most Golf Clubs run a UGA programme for kids from 6 upwards, correct technique is instilled from an early age and no bad habits are allowed to develop.
Dubai offers a fantastic selection of kids clothes shops, from top designer labels – Chloe, Dior to the trusted high street brands, prices depend on the label but good value can be had during the shopping festival and during the many promotions that take place throughout the year.
Kid’s furniture is available in many of the furniture stores.
Remember to capture their childhood years, take plenty photographs or have their portrait captured in a studio setting or on location in Dubai.
