Dubai boasts a lengthy coastline lined with beautiful white sandy beaches, and although some has been developed over recent years, much still remain.
Beaches in Dubai fall into 3 categories:
Public Beaches –
Beautiful wide stretches of sandy beaches, there are no life guards on duty or no flagged areas to denote safe swimming. Facilities are limited, no changing facilities, no sun loungers or umbrella even though in some cases these can be rented for a small sum.
Beach Parks –
Jumeirah Beach Park / Al Mamzar Beach Park in Deira / Ladies Park Um Sequim. There is a small entrance fee, changing facilities are available within the park, showers are available, food kiosks located at certain areas around the park. Park facilities include kiddies play areas and beautifully maintained grass areas with bbq bays. On the beach comfortable sun loungers/ umbrellas are available for rental. Life guards are only on duty at certain times and safe swim areas are flagged.
Beach Clubs-
These are expensive but luxurious options, mainly attached to hotels and offering all the associated facilities. Some offer diving facilities / instruction, and boat hire for the sail enthusiasts.
There are life guards on duty all the time, and safe swim areas are flagged.
Membership of a Sailing Club may also offer beach club access/ leisure facility access – along with the many advantages to sailing enthusiasts - water sport equipment hire, boat hire and sailing events either competitively or for fun.
