Pets

Thinking of relocating your pet to Dubai also…. Why not!

Reassuringly there is no quarantine for pets brought into Dubai and once the paperwork headache is over and in order, your pet may travel in the same flight as you, class of travel may vary though as animals must travel as cargo.

The pet will arrive at the cargo section of the airport, and the person whose name appears on the documentation, must collect. In order to collect your pet, you will need the original import permit, the original Good Health Certificates, the original Vaccination Certificate, and a photocopy of your passport.

It is worth starting your pet relocation paperwork, as soon as you decide to move as it can take time.

If you move without a pet but would like to own one, contact K9 Friends at    www.k9friends.com    which is a voluntary organisation that rescues and re houses stray and abandoned dogs or Feline Friends at   www.felinefriends.com   - a similar organisation for cats.

Rules regarding pets in Dubai are quite strict. Pets are not allowed on the public beaches. Pets must be on a leash at all times. You will need to maintain an up to date vaccination record for your pet, your pet will be issued with a tag with a Dubai Municipality registration no. on it , this ideally should be attached to your dog's/cat's collar.

All pets need to have a microchip inserted.

Many expatriates enjoy extended holidays from Dubai, especially families who vacate during the hot summers, please give thought to the company and care of your pet  whilst you are away!
