Overview

Two British entrepreneurs identified a requirement in the local market to assist foreign businesses with their corporate establishment, licensing and local partner requirements, founded The Links Group in Dubai in 2002. As opposed to FreeZone companies – the target audience was those organisations that required an onshore market presence.

The company evolved from a partnership to the corporate structure that exists today, and now actively markets the service overseas in order to attract foreign investment in the region. Links Group offices are now in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Doha.

More than 200 companies have been established by Links Group and are maintained on an annual basis thereby providing residual income to the group. These companies represent overall annual revenue creation in UAE and Qatar well in excess of USD$5billion to the local economy.

Sustainability

The Links Group core proposition is the provision of a corporate nominee local partner service. This enables the client company to operate in the region secure in the knowledge that they retain 100% control of ownership and management of their operation.  It soon became apparent that the client companies required additional corporate services. This presented an opportunity to the group to deliver such services. These include, but not limited to: serviced offices, recruitment services, IT support, Government Liaison services, marketing and PR.

The core-annualised income realised by the Links Group became supplemented by the provision of these additional services – thereby strategically reducing the reliance on one income stream.

Promotion of the business

A strategic relationship management process was implemented from the start of the business. The Links Group secured new business by way of referral from other professional services firms such as Lawyers and Accountants. This model has been complimented by an international marketing strategy in Europe, America and Australasia that has meant that Links Group  – at its own expense – has educated and attracted foreign companies to the opportunities and benefits of operating within the UAE and State of Qatar.

Strategic external relationships with the UK Trade & Investment, Institute of Directors, Chambers of Commerce and the Global Entrepreneurs Organisation have attracted a large number of Fortune 500 companies – as well as the essential SME’s – to these dynamic markets.
