With the economic slowdown in 2009, undoubtedly people will leave Dubai. As with your arrival, the key to a successful departure is planning. The key point in relation to your residency visa is that it will expire one month after your employment ceases, or one month after your employer notifies the authorities. However, your driving licence will still be valid whilst in date.
A clean departure means you will never have an issue re entering the country and will be in a position to apply for future jobs in Dubai.
